The GC2 uses cameras to find the ball, so your hitting surface affects ball lock and shot capture. If the cameras can't clearly see the ball, or if the surface moves at impact, the GC2 may not lock onto the ball or may miss shots.
Note:
If your GC2 shows a red LED or an error code, please see this article instead:
Device Showing an Error Code or Red LED? Here's What It Means
Place the GC2 and Ball on the Same Level
- Place the GC2 upright on a level surface with the camera side (front) facing the hitting area.
- The GC2 and the ball should rest at the same height.
- If you hit from a mat, place the GC2 on the mat or at the same height as the hitting surface.
Use a Stable Hitting Mat
- Secure the mat so it does not move or slide during your swing.
- The mat should lie flat, without flexing, lifting, or separating from the floor.
- Replace warped mats or loose turf inserts.
- If the club hits the mat before the ball, the ball can be pushed out of the hit zone and the shot may be missed.
Hitting From a Tee
- The GC2 supports hitting from a tee at most standard tee heights.
- If the GC2 does not lock onto a teed ball, lower the tee or adjust the GC2's height so the cameras can see the ball. See "If the GC2 Is Not Seeing the Ball" below.
- If you have questions about unusually high tee heights, please contact Foresight Sports Support.
Hitting From Grass
- For best results outdoors, hit from grass that is no longer than fairway length.
- The GC2 may capture shots from short rough, but results are not guaranteed. Longer grass can block the cameras' view of the ball.
- Place the GC2 on level ground at the same height as the ball.
Place the Ball in the Hit Zone
- The hit zone is a triangle on the ground directly in front of the GC2 cameras. It starts narrow at the front of the device and widens as it extends away. One edge measures 16 inches.
- Place a single golf ball inside the hit zone. Remove any extra balls.
- When the display shows READY and the LED is solid blue, the GC2 is ready to capture a shot.
Set Up for Your Handedness
- Set Handedness to Left or Right in the Foresight App.
- Move the GC2 to the side of the hitting area that faces the golfer. Left-handed and right-handed golfers need the GC2 on opposite sides.
Remove Reflective Surfaces
- Reflective objects near the hitting area can stop the GC2 from finding the ball.
- Remove or cover shiny flooring, mirrors, glass, metal objects, and reflective shoes or clothing.
- The alignment stick is reflective. Remove it from the hit zone before hitting.
Check Lighting and Conditions
- Avoid direct sunlight or strong lights aimed at the GC2 cameras.
- Use Indoor/Outdoor Mode in the Foresight App so the display is easy to read.
- Do not use the GC2 in wet, high-humidity, smoky, or dusty environments.
Keep the Camera Lenses Clean
- Dust or debris on the lenses can stop the GC2 from seeing the ball.
- Use canned air to remove loose dust.
- Gently wipe the lenses with a clean, dry microfiber lens cloth.
- For debris that sticks to the lens, use alcohol wipes made for optical lenses, and let the lens dry fully before use.
- Do not use paper towels, abrasive cloths, or household cleaners on the lenses.
If the GC2 Is Not Seeing the Ball
- Adjust the height. Raise the GC2, or move it so it sits slightly above the hitting surface, so the cameras have a clear, unobstructed view of the ball.
- Check the hit zone. Make sure there is only one ball and it is inside the hit zone.
- Check handedness. Confirm Handedness is correct in the Foresight App and the GC2 is on the correct side.
- If spin is not being captured. Test with a brand-new golf ball to rule out the ball's condition. Range and limited-flight balls are supported; this step is for troubleshooting only.
