Both will eventually reach end-of-life, but the timelines differ.
FSX 2020
- FSX 2020 is fully deprecated. It is no longer distributed or supported.
FSX Play
- FSX Play is not being shut off. It runs in maintenance mode, receiving critical bug fixes and security updates but no new features.
- Existing perpetual licenses remain valid.
- No end-of-life date has been set.
Before FSX Play Is Decommissioned
A set of conditions must be met before FSX Play is retired:
- Purchased courses migrated to Premier.
- Simulator and practice feature parity achieved in Premier.
- FSX Play usage below a defined threshold.
- At least 12 months of advance customer notice.
Note:
You will receive at least 12 months of notice before FSX Play is decommissioned. Your perpetual license remains valid throughout. As long as the FSX 2020 and PLAY servers remain active the license keys should remain operational, this may continue even beyond end-of-life notices.
